Book It To The Creek
2023 Book It to the Creek will run from June 2 through September 10, 2023. As always, any reader who reads 100 hours (or more) over 100 days will join the Wolf Pack and get to join a special celebration!
We will use a new platform this year, “99 Pledges,” to record minutes read and accept pledges and payments. More info below. Questions: bookit@thewcepta.com. Let’s get reading!
How do we participate?
Set up your child’s page via the individual link sent from 99 pledges. You can add a photo, description of what your child hopes to read this summer, and what their individual goal is. We have set all individual goals for pledge purposes to 450 minutes, which is just 45 minute a day.
Record minutes read under the “Track” tab on the individual profile page.
Solicit donations by emailing a link to your child’s page or posting on social media through the “Invite” tab on your individual page. Friends, family, co-workers, etc. can donate a flat amount (charged immediately) or pledge a per-minute amount, which will be charged in September once the total minutes are certified.
Do audio books count?
Yes! Count all minutes your child reads and the minutes your child is read to.
Do I (or my child) need to record minutes each day?
No! But to participate, earn Wolf Pack status, and obtain per-minute donations, you or your child must record actual minutes during the 100 days in the 99 pledges platform.
Can I record on paper?
You can! Download a PDF calendar and print it out to record your minutes. You just need to input the minutes into 99 pledges prior to September 15.
We have a helpful paper tracking sheet for you here!
Do I have to raise money?
No, but we hope you do. The 2023 fundraising goal for this event is $15,000. All dollars raised will go toward the PTA’s annual contribution to WCE, which pays for paraprofessional staff, technology updates, and more.
Can my grandmother/neighbor just send a check and not donate online?
Of course! Email bookit@thewcepta.com to coordinate so we can make sure to credit the donation to your child’s Book It fundraising.
What prizes are there for participating?
Each participant will receive a prize at the Book It celebration on September 29. Kids who make Wolf Pack will get an extra prize, and an extra recess and celebration with Miles the Bronco! And there will be mid-summer contests and end-of-program awards for the top reading class, top fundraising grade, and top readers.
I never got or can’t find my email/link from 99 pledges. Who do I contact?
bookit@thewcepta.com and info@99pledges.com. The email list we have is based on your DPS contact information, and there's a small chance the email was sent to an emergency contact instead of a parent. The Book It team can confirm, and 99 pledges can also help update the email address for your account.
My friend/family/co-worker messed up their pledge or donation, or my child read way more than anticipated (yay!) and my friend/family/co-worker wants to change their pledge.
99 pledges can help adjust any pledges or donations. Just email info@99pledges.com.
