Westerly Creek Elementary School Annual Auction FAQ’s

“Auction 101”

What is the WCE school auction and why should I attend?

Our school auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year! This event is typically held in the fall, on a Friday or Saturday evening, at a Denver venue. Your ticketed entry includes free food, drinks, dancing, and an opportunity to have fun with other WCE adults (parents, staff, teachers, alumni).

There are some key components to the evening with the goal of raising money for the school: a live auction, a silent auction, a paddle raise, and exclusive access to Wolf Den Collective events.

What do the funds raised at the auction pay for?

All proceeds raised during the auction festivities directly support staff salaries for paraprofessionals, specials teachers, recess coaches, the school nurse, mental health staff and intervention teams, as well as, classroom technology like chromebooks and promethium boards, and classroom resources like iReady and ST Math.

How do we raise money when it is a FREE event?

  •  Auction volunteers acquire donated items, services and experiences for guests to bid on, with the highest bidder winning and proceeds going to WCE. The silent auction catalog typically goes live a week before the auction and bidding takes place on your phone or computer. You don’t have to attend the auction to participate in this! You can bid on silent auction items from your home.

  • The live auction takes place during the evening of the event and you must be present in-person to participate. Live auction items tend to be bigger and more exciting than silent auction items. There is an auctioneer who guides this portion of the evening and each item has its moment for bidders to raise their paddles against each other with the highest bidder winning the item, with proceeds going to WCE.

  • A paddle raise takes place during the evening of the event and you must be present in-person to participate. A paddle raise is a “direct giving” campaign with 100% of the donation going back to WCE.

What is the Wolf Den Collective and why can I only participate if I show up in person?

The Wolf Den Collective is a tradition of shared experiences for every member of the WCE pack. These experiences are designed to bring our community closer together and give back to WCE. There are three types of experiences:

  • Cub Adventures – Fun, after-school events hosted by WCE staff for kids.

  • Pack Experiences – Family-led events at homes or local venues for kids and families.

  • Den After Dark – Adult-only events hosted by WCE parents.

Because the host of these experiences cover all expenses, 100% of proceeds go back to WCE. You can choose to host an experience and/or attend an experience. But you MUST BE AT THE AUCTION to purchase all Wolf Den Collective experiences! These are only available for in-person auction attendees.

Attend an Experience:
Love spending time with other pack members? Whether it’s a Cub Adventure for kids, a Pack Experience for the whole family, or a Den After Dark night out just for adults, there’s something for every member of the pack. Join in the fun, make memories, and know that every experience you purchase directly supports WCE.

Host an Experience:
Love bringing people together? Hosting is a fun way to share something you love while raising money for our school. As a host, you can choose from a list of our curated themes or choose your own. You set the date, time and place. Each event is generously hosted, with all expenses covered by the host, so that 100% of the proceeds go directly to supporting WCE. It’s a wonderful way to build community, share your talents, and make a meaningful contribution.
