We Need Your Help
Every year the PTA challenges the WCE community to help create a $200,000 grant back to the school so they are able to maintain the exceptional learning environment for our children. While there are fundraising opportunities throughout the year, the majority of the grant comes from the direct giving of our families and sponsors. Additionally, we need to raise $25,000 for Staff Support and other important school-wide programming.
What About My Tax Dollars?
It’s true - tax dollars do go to fund the schools, but did you know Denver Public Schools has a weighted funding formula. This means Westerly Creek Elementary only receives funds for basic education, but what makes Westerly Creek Elementary an award winning school goes well above and beyond basic! For all of the extras that make our school so amazing, we rely on financial contributions from our community. We encourage each family to make a tax-deductible donation to the school. No donation is too big or too small - it all adds up to provide resources so each student can receive a top notch educational experience.
The Westerly Creek PTA is made up of parents and teachers who are committed to ensuring Westerly Creek Elementary remains a top elementary school that has all of the necessary tools to retain incredible teachers and staff as well as supports for all students.
Families can make a donation online here or can set up an automatic monthly payment. Checks can be made out to the Westerly Creek PTA.
Fundraising Facts
Our goal is to raise $225,000 per school year
If every family contributes just $2/school day per student we can meet our goal. This is about $350 per student per year. Not every family is able to donate at that level, but we ask you donate whatever amount is right for you.
100% of the money that The WCE PTA raises goes directly to support our school.
This money is necessary to ensure the quality of education and support that we expect our children to receive at Westerly Creek. This includes:
Staffing for paraprofessional positions in our primary grades, including full-time paras that provide instructional support and other supports that address the social, emotional and behavioral needs of all students
Hiring intervention, GT and support staff that serve students in ECE through 5th grade
Recess coaches to ensure students are engaged and safe during daily outside time
Staffing of a full-time nurse
One-to-one technology in K-5 (iPads & Chromebooks)
Replacing outdated classroom interactive whiteboards
Updates and upgrades to outdated materials as needed (technology, classroom materials, building beautification)
No donation is too big or too small.
Donations greater than $250 per student will get a shout out on our school’s Recognition Wall in the front hall.
